Adventurers Offers Fun Activities for Grades 1-3

The Adventurer Club, for Grades 1-3, features a variety of action-filled, hands-on activities designed to develop in the church's children a lasting respect and love for God, for family, for others, for the church and for nature. The club is a forerunner of Pathfinders.

The club features Wednesday night meetings that coincide with the Pathfinder meetings (see Pathfinder schedule in previous article). And each spring the club sponsors a family campout.

In the past, Adventurers were charged dues. However, in 2002, in harmony with Markham Woods Church's overall philosophy of contributions (see "`Free for All' Philosophy," page 29), we dropped the dues and just encouraged families to make a contribution. For several years our dues were $40. However, dues, even when charged, covered only a percentage of the total cost of running the club. The rest has been met by Church Budget allocations and direct contributions from people with a burden for ministry for children and youth.
